Life's Journey
I knew Heavenly Father would put me in the exactly where I needed to be, I just had to be patient. I was getting a bit concerned because I had rolled up my quarters and my dimes (my emergency fund) and Joe rolled up a bunch of his quarters (funds earned from the washing machines and dryers at the apartments we used to be part owners with grandma and Paul, Joe's dad) to pay bills.
I had interviewed for several other job openings within Intermountain Health Care (IHC) when I noticed another opening for patient service rep. I sent my application, along with my updated resume. I had a telephone interview (they were narrowing down 305 candidates I discovered after the fact). They called me back to set up an interview the next day.
Johanna, my sister-in-law, had helped me create my updated resume and wanted details on how things were progressing. I called to give her the new information and she knew one of my interviewers from her Human Resources position with Primary Children's Hospital. She did send him an email after I mentioned her name at my interview. Hey, why not name drop.....
They had narrowed down the telephone interviews to two people. The other candidate changed her mind (she already worked within IHC) about the position. I had a message on my cell phone, that I missed because I had left it out in the car . . . indicating that they wanted to further discuss the position with me and were offering me the job! ! !
I am happy to announce that I work for Cottonwood Family Practice. There are 3 Drs. a P.A. and on Fridays and Mental Health Practitioner. I LOVE MY NEW JOB.
What I wanted for a job:
To work in healthcare
To work front desk
To work directly with the patients
To work in a "small physican's office"
To work close to home (it's about 3 miles from the house)
To have insurance benefits for me and Joe.
To make more than minimum wage. I was to start at $10.62 and was given a raise before I even started.
Heavenly Father was and is the crucial instrument in this girls band. Praise to Him!
Thanks for the prayers of my family and friends. Love to you all. Janice

A few things you may not know about Janice
As a child I would wonder what people in the car next to ours were thinking. What were their lives like? Did they go on vacations, traveling across the western states like my family? How many people were in their family? Where were they going?
I love finding "pretty" or "unusual" rocks. My first rock find was with my dad and sister. We went for a hike before our house was built on Royal Ridge Dr. It must have been early spring as the rolling hills surrounding our property were covered in lush green grasses. The first thing we discovered was the carcass of some animal. Icky. As we wandered the area I discovered a rock that turned out to be quartz. That rock remained in my bedroom until a few years ago when I decided it needed to come "home" with me to Utah. It now resides on my dresser. I think that a rock polisher would be fun. But when I look it up on the Internet it sounds expensive and I am not great at reading directions and understanding what they want me to do to make it work. My sister, Sharon, is the queen of understanding directions and putting them into practice.
I love thunderstorms, so long as I am indoors. I have a healthy respect for lightening. My mother's brother was struck and killed by such an event. I feel the electricity and excitement in the air. My neurotransmitters are triggered and it spreads from there to every part of my body.
I love the smell of rain especially in the spring when the lilacs are in bloom.
I love the smell of fresh bread. I have fond memories of the farm in Granger (now called West Valley) and Aunt Helen making a fresh batch.
I love the ocean. There were many times when mom would take us to the beach as kids. She would get so hot that she would retreat under the boardwalk at Santa Cruz. There were hermit crabs and shells to discover. I didn't care much for the return home ritual which involved trying to wash all the sand off. Let's face it, IT HURT! You know there are hidden crevices that cannot be fully cleaned without a full shower. The sand dried you know where. We drove home down that scary Highway 17 with all its curves and narrow lanes
Speaking of narrow lanes, I about had a heart attack on our trips to Utah. Back in the "olden days" you had to drive up Donner Pass. It was extremely windy and very narrow. I was in the car on the back right side so I had quite a view of the drop off. I feared that we would go over the edge. I found myself on the floor in a ball. My way of dealing with this stress. As I write this I wonder why I didn't move over to Sharon's side. We didn't have seat belts then so it would have been easy enough to do. Some other kid would have planned ahead and set their kid sister up by sitting on the left side of the car in the first place. I was either kind of dense or I'd like to think that I didn't want Sharon to be in danger.
I love the mountains. I feel the most spiritually connected and at peace there.
I loved dad's lumpy cream of wheat and our game of who had the most lumps.
I love my family. Mom's funny sense of humor and the twinkle in her eyes. Dad's calm voice when things were going wrong. Sharon's sensitivity, intelligence and athletic abilities.

Dog Stories
My dogs think they know when breakfast time should be. Sometimes I get right up to get it over with. Occasionally, I get them out into the hallway and shut the door. Of course there is the whining and scratching at the door. "Hey, what the heck?" I can envision them on the other side of the door, with their heads cocked to the side, tails wagging and muscles tensed. Frequently I play possum. This game goes on for awhile. If I move a muscle it starts all over again. The final straw is when Tally steps on my hair. This morning was a possum day. So how did Tally get me up? She laid on my head, with her paws over my mouth. I was laying on my right side, so her paws were draped. That totally cracked me up. As I walked down the hall to the kitchen pantry, where I store their morsels, there was much commotion. Tally jumps up and down, usually running into Goldie (who is the one who starts the wake up "procedure" in the first place through some sort of code she sends out to Tally) and sometimes I get bumped into. If I am particularly goofy I ask if anybody wants food, and then the jumping gets higher and I am lucky if I can get the pantry door open. Once the food is in the bowl, it is placed on the floor and poof it is gone....ahhhh, calm.

Oops
As Grandpa is known to say: "Some peoples' kids..."
I was talking to my friend last night. She explained to me that her mom is coming from Las Vegas for the holiday. She tried to talk her mom into leaving Saturday rather than Sunday to avoid the snowstorm. My thought is that neither our parents or our kids take our suggestions. For that matter neither do the dogs.
